Design leader with 15+ years in enterprise UX, specializing in complex operational environments. I’ve led teams across product design, UX research and design systems while staying close to the work — grounding decisions in real users and building the practices that let teams move quickly without losing quality. Known for inspiring designers and researchers to do their best work, I build teams that earn the trust of product and engineering and deliver experiences that hold up in the field. My background spans aerospace, insurance, broadcasting and enterprise software.
Leading UX on the company's current highest-priority program, with earlier responsibility for a second high-priority initiative. Directly lead a team of 5, and during a 5-month director vacancy helped steady the broader 14-person practice as the CTO's lead for UX, working alongside the design and research managers as peers, presenting UX strategy to the CTO and securing added headcount and training for the team.
- High-priority product initiative: Leading UX for a strategic growth program targeting a new market segment, establishing a research-grounded design process and securing cross-functional commitment to user testing to validate the solution before build.
- AI-driven transformation: Led the adoption of an AI-augmented prototyping tool across the full team of 14 designers and researchers, cutting prototype production time from 1-2 weeks to 2-3 days, and now leading its expansion across the broader technology organization.
- Financial impact: Partnered with finance and procurement to identify $162k in misallocated spend and tool savings, and negotiated multiyear vendor agreements reducing annual research software costs by $60k.
- Talent development: Invest in growing designers and content designers into bigger roles — coaching on portfolios, advocating for advancement and securing training and development opportunities for the team.
- Accessibility investment: Leading an evaluation of accessibility tooling vendors against WCAG 2.2 AA and driving accessibility SDLC planning across QA, DevOps and UX toward a shift-left model.
- Design systems: Brought design tokens to the design system lead and helped build them, as part of a design system rebuilt on a stronger technical foundation.
- Experience standards: Developed an Experience Standards framework defining the outcomes critical customer and agent-facing flows must deliver, now entering cross-department review.
Led a team of up to 8 direct reports spanning product design, design systems and UX research, the last of which joined in the final 2 years.
- Revenue impact: Led UX for the Asset Performance Management portfolio, the Connected Enterprise division's top NPI revenue line at $13.6M, leading a separate team of 5 designers on the product without formal authority over them, scaling research adoption and running usability testing that produced SUS scores in the 80s for the redesigned tool against the legacy application.
- Cross-functional leadership: Aligned Product, Engineering and Design teams across multiple divisions to deliver cohesive experiences on complex industrial platforms.
- Talent pipeline: Launched a UX internship program that brought fresh perspectives to experimental projects and established a future hiring pipeline.
- Design systems: Owned and helped build the division's design system, personally developing design tokens for consistency and scale across products.
- Accessibility investment: Advocated for an external accessibility consultant review of the design system, served on the accessibility council and secured budget for 2 team members to earn and maintain CPACC certification.
- Global DesignOps: Drove global DesignOps expansion across divisions, streamlining UX processes and accelerating time-to-market through agile methodologies.
Recognized the growing design org had no operational backbone and proposed creating the DesignOps Lead function to fill it, achieving a 50% design tool cost reduction and defining UX job roles and career paths across the global team.
Led UX strategy, program management and cross-functional delivery across several complex operational programs in high-stakes field environments.
- Engine health monitoring: Directed a maintainer-centered program to modernize legacy engine data management for business aviation, leading a 9-person cross-functional team (6 full-time, 3 shared) within a $1.3M program budget. Secured customer access for on-site contextual research at 4 customer sites and organized team immersion with field service engineers and an engine manufacturing facility to build domain expertise before designing anything. Shipped a web and mobile application reducing engine data access time from 1 hour to 10 minutes per aircraft, deployed in a limited alpha with 5 enterprise customers who operated the specific aircraft it supported.
- AI-assisted maintenance: As technical product owner and designer, led 2 engineers and managed the vendor providing the AI on a proof of concept pairing maintenance manuals with repair logs to recommend likely fixes. Maintainer research found they would check any recommendation against their own repair approach before acting.
- Emerging tech: Co-led 8 engineering interns with an AR technical lead on a proof of concept that identified an aircraft by tail number, guided the maintainer to the area needing attention and surfaced repair directions on arrival.
- Pilot tools research: Independently led UX research for the flight planning engine, website and iPad flight planning application. Designed and ran on-site research with 11 business aviation pilots, running parallel usability testing and open-feedback methods in a single day and introducing a frequency-and-impact prioritization framework that gave the product team a defensible basis for what to fix first.
- Team growth: Joined as one of the first designers at a new Honeywell office and helped staff it, recruiting designers and engineers through career fairs and community hiring events.
