For this semester long assignment we were instructed to come up with a design plan for a local nonprofit group. Our team selected the Buskirk Chumley Theatre. The Buskirk is a staple of downtown Bloomington and a historic Vaudeville theater.
Our team interviewed people who worked at the theater, ushered for shows and spent time at the theater to try and understand the way the theater operates. We also talked to other local theaters and performed a literature review. From this information we identified a few areas that we felt the Buskirk could improve and worked to come up with ideas as to how they could accomplish this.
Our main ideas were an interactive LCD system for the lobby to engage patrons. A feedback system to allow patrons to give feedback to the Buskirk. Placing the booking calendar online so the internal staff could access it instead of having only one person able to book shows. The last highlighted idea was a staff training system to train new staff and volunteers. You can read more about these ideas and others in the annotated presentation.
