A company called Spark Parking has developed a system that can make finding an open space in a garage much easer. The core technology is a sensor that is placed in the space and senses whether there is car over it . If the spot is empty it sends a signal through the garage which can be used to let drivers know where an empty spot is, parking patterns in a garage among other things. When a driver parks in one of these smart spots they can pay for it using their cell phone. The driver enters the number of the spot along with their credit card information. When they leave the spot they are charged for that time.
This is an interesting application of technology to make finding and paying for parking easier.
